I have taken off the plastic ones without the ink before simply by using tin snips and pliers on the plastic. Express is really bad about leaving those on their clothes, and I'm not going to drive an hour back to the store when I pull out something I want to wear and find a stupid tag on it. I am not familiar with the ink ones, because I have never had to remove one. Freezing it sounds like a decent idea, but I think it would be best to remove it breaking the ink cartridge. Try using a dremel if you have one to cut into it around the ink, or take it back to the store if convenient.

Someone I know used to work in a store that had those. She said that you can freeze them and then pry them off. This way it freezes the stuff inside and then you dont have to worry about getting ink all over your item.

the point of the alarms are so you don't steal them! the only way you can get them off are if you buy the pants, and the store clerk uses a special tool to get them off... there is no other way to safely take the alarms off.

i think that's kind of the point - you're not supposed to get them off yourself, you're supposed to BUY them and have the cashier take them off for you! if you try to do it yourself, then ink will squirt all over your clothes.
