Around here it is $100 per hour for therapeutic massage. Half the time the person does a lousy job, too. There is a good one for $147 but that seems a little pricey espec. if they don't have the skills. What suggestions do you have?

The rates vary, $50-100. I charge $60. I don't charge more for deep tissue because some people say they want deep tissue, then they can't really handle it. I work with a chiropractor, next to a gym.
Look for an individual therapist, salons often require therapists to do a "routine", to ensure you get the same massage, every time you visit, no matter who works on you. An individual therapist may also give you a discount for frequent visits, "buy 3, get one free", etc. An individual will also be more likely to listen to what you want, tailor the massage, to meet your needs.

Milano, Italy: prices range from 35/45 euros at the beautician's to 60/80 euros for ayurvedic, shiatsu, tuina and other forms of therapy

Last summer at a spa in Ireland, prices started at 35 euros for a facial, or a head and shoulders ayurvedic style up to a fortune for a full-body

People only charge what the market can bare, and I'm afraid the market can bare such exorbitant prices. A different story altogether's paying good money for a lousy job. When booking a therapeutic session, I try and make sure the person's got some qualification. I'm a holistic healer myself and have some experience on both ends of the massage thing, so I start off asking them about their techniches and make my mind up according to their replies.

Ranges from $50-$150 I find the best deals are at the massage schools. There you can often get a 1 hour massage for about $35

It cost about the same in my city. I've had a theraputic for about $60. I don't go to big spas or resorts. They are the ones that cost. How about trying a shiatsu or accupressure massage? They hurt like the dickens, but you feel like putty afterwards. Another way is to see if you can find a person who works independently, like out of their home or they come to your home.

Here in T.O. it's about a buck a minute if going to a physio clinic - well trained and about 2/3 covered by OHIP or private insurance (plans range in allowable expense per year and can range from $500 max to $1500 maximum allowable expense)

I haven't really checked, but it should be about $50 (per massage, not per hour) in this city.
