They are still trying to make it over the counter, but as of right now you have to get a prescription from a doctor. The morning after pill must be taken within 48 hours of intercourse, so if you need it you must call or get to a doctor asap.

NO, you CAN get it now without a prescription. Google "Plan B".
If you are under 16, in some states you may still need a prescription. otherwise the pharmacist just keeps it behind the counter and can sell it to you.
It is supposed to be like 85% effective up to 72 hours after you screw up. It may make you nauseous and give you a headache. Also may screw up your normal cycle. But it's MUCH better than the alternative if you are trying to avoid pregnancy.

Normally a local health department will carry them. As I know there might only be a couple dollars for a charge. Side affects are stomach ache, and slight cramping I believe.
These have to be taken with-in a certain amount of hours after intercourse. They will prevent the sperm and the egg from meeting, that is all. If it is after the set amount of hours after intercourse it won't work. After that time it is pointless as it doesn't interfere or work once egg and sperm fertilzes.

Well I've drank artificial red cordial when I wasn't sure and it has bought on the period. I was glad as I had read that the color red can cause birth deformities!
I have also douched with Dr Bronners soap (mixed with water) or a herbal hormone womens formula, these have also bought on the monthly period.
Plus I read that some women in overseas countries use mind control to prevent pregnancy, I also tried that, (it worked) but its not foolproof of course.
Oh and dont have lots of vitamin C as it can virtually stop a period.
You could always wait for Mr Right!

MRod is right, but you can take it up to 72 hours afterwards. It is most effective within 48 hours, though.
