I already went through the "settings/control panal/audio...etc." That the regular "on-line help" gave. HELP!

Reinstall your sound card drivers.

In your audio settings (Control Panel -> Sounds Settings) ; Tick the checkbox which says " Place Volume icon on taskbar "
Save settings and exit.
You will now be able to see the icon.

looks like you lost your sound drivers.

If you now what kind of sound card you have (or onboard sound) you need to reinstall those drivers/software.

then you'll see that little speaker again -- and you'll get sound.

You might be able to go to System Restore if youre using XP, inside System Tools and revert back a day or so, to a time when you still had sound) you wont lose any data made since that time, it will just roll back some registry settiings...fixes problems alot actually.

Maybe your sound card does not work any more.Check in contol panel in audio settings if your card is still there.

well in control panel / audio ..... etc there is a tick box that says "place icon in taskbar"
