It depends on the state. Automotive distributors conduct reaserch to see which colors to send where. For example, there are many maroon vehicles in Texas because it is the Texas A&M school colors. White or light colored cars are more popular in warmer states and less pouplar where it snows a lot (you can't see them against the snow making them dangerous). For some reason, the Dakotas have a large number of purple cars. Green cars do not sell well in the UK (they actually have lower resale prices) because they are considered bad luck. Red and Yellow cars do well in the North of Italy because of the association with Ferrari and because they are easier to see in the fog that plagues the Po valley. I hope this answers your question.
