In Australia we call them post codes, not zip codes but essentially they are the same.

Also, there is a different post code for every suburb.

The Sydney CBD (Central Business District) - what Americans call "downtown" has its own post code 2000.
However this is ONLY for the CBD.

Sydney has approximately three hundred different suburbs and they all have a different post code.

Here is a link to the Australia Post website post code search:

http://www1.auspost.com.au/postcodes/

First, you'll need to find the name of the suburb to which you are posting.

Hope this helps

P.S. Sydney is in the state of New South Wales

In Australia zip codes are called post codes. There are a number of post codes that relate to Sydney depending on what suburb you are looking for. Perhaps this site will help you narrow down the search http://postcodes.qpzm.com.au/au/nsw/sydney but it will be four digits starting with 2

We call them post codes, not zip codes. Sydney central district is 2000. The surrounding areas have their own, so it depends whether you want to mail something to Sydney or a suburb of. As for the cost, you will have to check with your local post office as you don't say where you are from. Are we to assume>>> I sent a package not long ago to San Francisco and it cost AU $60, but it all depends on the size of your parcel as well.

It's Postcode, and for Sydney CBD it is 2000, although there are many suburbs in and around Sydney with different postcodes.
