This man, who is a sad case of emotional instability, sent the letter to the American people because he was told to do so by his henchmen. He doesn't have the brains to either write or send such a letter. The ploy is really quite simple. It follows the same concept that probably concluded the Vietnamese war. Americans were fed up with it and they wanted OUT no matter what. Ahmadinejad wants American troops out of Iraq so he can move in and if he can get the American people adequately steamed up, then they will insist on troop withdrawal. What he doesn't know is the Bush will not swerve from his goal. The guy has guts and he is doing whatever he feels necessary for the American people. If Carter were in charge the troops would have been out of Iraq many months ago and by now Iran would have moved in and started their determined effort to take over the middle east.
It isn't easy to determine the right answer for the problem. Mark my words, a strongman will enter into the picture and take over where Saddam left off. The Arabs need this because they wouldn't know what to do with a democratic nation. They have to be led by their noses and snuffed out if they don't comply with the government. Really sad, but true.

"Hundreds of thousands of my Iranian compatriots are living amongst you in friendship and peace, and are contributing positively to your society. Our people have been in contact with you over the past many years and have maintained these contacts despite the unnecessary restrictions of US authorities."

Dennis Prager pointed out the other day that the reason so many Iranians are living peacefully here, is because they wanted to get away from the oppression in Iran. As soon as he read the statement above, I had the same thought.

Yeah, I don't care for an ideology that condones the destruction of Israel, denies the Holocaust, and elects a president that participated in the '79 American hostage crisis in Iran.

I firmly believe that he and the religious "leadership" in Iran are lying vermin. The everyday citizens of Iran have suffered under the choke hold of this mindset for too long. Once a stable and free Democratic government is established and operating successfully, the people of neighboring nations will likely begin to cause trouble for their leaders. The Iranian President knows this and is beginning to worry that we will be successful. I'm glad. He has been sniffing around Iraq now trying to get a leg up and has begun trying to make deals with his former enemy. He's a skunk.

Kathy is exactly right I have been trying to find the words of that letter from Hitler for some time now and it is nowhere to be found but I heard on the radio someone reading it and it was eerily similar.

The thing most people dont know is that it is the practice of Islam to warn your opposition before you are going to attack them. You must give them a chance to conform and convert. This was done by Khomeini as well and his letters were not just similar but exact. The everyday US citizen will read this as a good thing he is trying to be civil but it is exactly the opposite, a letter to convert or die.

It reminds me of a similar letter sent by Hitler around 1938 to America. He tried to justify his nation's actions and blame the problems of his country on the Jews. Historians later agreed that the letter was Hitler's attempt to keep Americans out of the war as long as possible by portraying himself as a harmless caring leader. I think the similarities are striking and hope that naive Americans won't buy into the Iranian leader's smokescreen.

To be perfectly honest, I think Ahmadinejad is between a rock and a hard place, like every other Middle Eastern Leader save a few kings.

Still another case of two many Chiefs and not enough Indians (American Idiom).

Very little news lately is reality based, we have lived with threat of terror for four years, while in the worlds eyes we seem to be practicing a terror of our own.

The people of America are clearly AGAINST the policies of Dubya. But the "Decider" doesn't care a bit.

Fledgling Democracies watch and learn.

Americans know how to say "enough is enough" to power.

I find it frightening. I hope we Americans are able to see that he has made himself our enemy.

I guess that becomes apparent when he proclaims it. Hopefully we citizens don't cower and take the stance that kissing his * is the way to appease Adolf.

Sadly we seem to keep condemning our country as the bad guys but we sure wouldn't enjoy the civil liberties we like in N. Korea, Iran...

If we are so bad how come people want to immigrate to here rather than Syria, Iran...

When I read his letter I felt like I had read it before, but I can't figure out where that was. His sorry attempts to make the American people think he was on our side were ridiculous at best.

My thought was who does he think he is kidding. I think his personal idealogy stinks and that he was trying to brainwash us like he tries to brainwash his own people. I don't think he has a clue about us Americans.

My opinion of the madiranian has not changed.

He and his entire ideology need to be destroyed for the sake of the world.
