Let's hear it . There is no doubt she's a very wealthy successful woman but I wonder what people really think. Be honest, have fun and go nuts. Think she's nice?Think she just pretends to be nice?Think she's really a snob?Think she acts "too white"? Think she deserves all the praise she gets?Think she beleives that the world revolves around her?Think it's great the way she gives gifts to the audience?Think the gifts are a joke because they are always supplied by companies and her being extremely wealthy puts nothing up herself?

I'm not suggesting anything negative about her, it's open to opinion. I just typed those off quickly. Please no nonsense answers about suffering from society for ethnicity and gender. LMFAO, like being a woman in this day and age is considered being a minority. Get real! I couldn't care less if Oprah was a white male the Q would remain the same.

Btw, before I'm branded as a racist, the "too white" comment was made by a black friend of mine. Kind of changes things, doesn't it, my quick to judge friends?

I will answer your questions about her point by point.
1)most people are nice, if they're civil at all
2)she may be pretending bc much of her work is televised, it's work. If you are sharp enough, watch her responses of certain individuals she interviews, you may notice some displeasure demonstrated by her body language; still, this is ok, bc she is not God, even you will feel uncomfortable with some of the people she interviews.
3)no, I dont' think she 'acts too white', whatever that means. perhaps you are xenophobic?
4)I think she can go overboard with flaunting her ego, with all that praises. It's just an audience thing, doesn't give her true emotional connection; if she can depend on that to keep her ego up, she may become very bitchy if it's taken away some day
5)having said that, she may think the world revolves around her
6) the gifts is just media ploy, benefits the companies that give out the freebies; but she's the one to 'dish it out', so , there you go, her audience go all 'gooky' for her.
My opinion is, she is already wealthy. She shouldn't be making money off of people's 'dirty linen'. It becomes a show, even celebrities can fake crying! No, I dont think some of the people who go on her show are genuinely changed. Many just are there bc of her fame, to be identified with someone who seems to care. But I'm not saying she doesn't care either. She may be overdoing it, until it becomes all a show. People who go on her show may be scouted by other companies to endorse their products...etc....
I believe we need to be considerate that everyone has problems and many do not want to be 'exposed' to the media in order to protect the 'innocent'. We need to give people a space for sharing where confidentiality is kept, and where we learn new relating behavior, not acting behavior. This is what all the support groups are there for. We just need to keep 'working on' issues of pain, shame, guilt, in small groups where others in the group can encourage, empower, assist members in a 'real' way. People can served better that way.
I call the audience(on stage and the world audience) vicarious emotional 'hostage takers'. They know they may have issues but they rather watch others share their pain than to participate in sharing their own. These people will never heal from their pain. But go on to feel fearful of the same traps others who have spoken.
There should be more support groups in every town and city, not more Oprahs.

Wow, I've never been asked this question before, and I'm enlightened, thank you for giving me this chance.
It seems that nobody can hardly say anything bad about Oprah nowadays, because if you do you are called callous. However, even though I really do like the show, and I admit I do watch it and enjoy it, I have a couple of bones to pick.
The mad cow issue: that really just kind of made me angry. I don't know why it got to me, and she really shouldn't have gotten punished for it, the way she was getting punished for it, but as a cattlemen(WOMAN heh) you should have just seen the charts of the beef industry the day after she said that. NO she did not cause Mad Cow disease, but lets face it, she has a lot of power, and she kind of used it in a manner that is not irresponsible.
It really bugs me that people say she is so giving when she does just get sponsored. She never ever spends her OWN money really, it's all of the companies money. And that whole show she did where she was revealing she had 'two daughters' and it turned out to be her dogs...that was really stupid, and what I thought a cheap shot at higher ratings. Like the woman needs them.
I also think she just asks powder puff questions to celebrities, when she could be asking things that are prelevant.
I do think she is rather prissy in real life, some comments she has made about not being able to sleep 'certain' places, but then she goes to Africa, and pretends to just 'feel' for everyone. She has worked really hard for what she has gotten, but come on give me a break.
Okay, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
In reality though, I really do like Oprah, and nobody is perfect, there are just CERTAIN things, and I'm sure I'll think of more, heh.

I think that she is all show.
Yes she gives out money and lots of stuff to the less fortunate but you watch when she hugs people you can see her cringing. I watch her body language and the way she looks at people also the tone of her voice.. I used to be a big fan but have really turned off her..
I ask this question - if she is soooooo nice then why wasn't she invited to Toms wedding????

I like her. Some of the gifts are from companies but if you do your research you will discover a large part of her income also goes to charities and she's put out a lot of her money to help people all over the world. The companies offer to give the prizes away on her show for publicity for their product many times. She sells things on her website and the money all goes not to her but to help others.Even if she's just pretending,at least it's for a good cause.

Acts too white? I guess that's along the same line as M&M acting too black.
Well this has been real stimulating conversation but I have more pressing matters like counting the tiles on the roof.
But I think Oprah is an educated female who had overcame a trying childhood and who uses her wealth positively.

I don't know her, but she's obviously highly intelligent, she's working hard to make the world a better place. I think she's great, her personality is all her own. I think anyone that says she's too white, is nuts, jealous and stupid.

I think she is great...build a school in South Africa for girls. The surprising thing is that she had to fly out there and personally hold interviews to select the girls to attend her school...why is that? She didnt trust the local people to do that? Another thing, at least we have seen her without makeup...how many other celebs do you see on TV without makeup?

I think, she's just a human being.
But,
"HER program" (OPRAH & the program; vice versa), make "some of the people"; including me, are enlightened for being a better human being in our own life (for the first place) then...... could be for others.

She annoys me...she is fake and full of herself. It also annoys me how she feels the need to keep telling people how bad her childhood was. She talks over the top of others, doesn't listen and thinks she is doing the world a favour by existing

I feel like that no matter how much money she gives out, it is just never enough. Don't get me wrong. I think it is great that she does give out once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, but I think she keeps too much money for herself.
