In the UK engineers decorators and infact any skilled person could find employment after retirement age. at B&Q they hire these people because the have a wealth of knowledge to impart to thier customers. Experience and Knowledge is very important to this company because people often ask staff advice. and you cant buy the sort of training you have, not to mention experience. depending on the engineering field you are in you could goto your local Hobby shop and offer your experience privately to thier customers who have gotten themselves into a mess with an expensive project. or advertise your expertise as a consultant engineer to the enthusiastic (but unskilled) project builder.
I am an engineer Who has been medically retired (busted back) i also take morphine so companies refuse to upgrade their public liability insurence to hire me. these are just a few of the options i have explored. I now consult on many projects from computer building to kit car assembly. the money can be very good too
