The question is in the present tense and as such the present best cricketer has to be named. At current form the Pakistani Batsman Mohd. Yousuf is the best cricketer. He broke the record of great Vivian Richards: 1710 runs in a calender year & 7 century during that period. Now Yousuf holds the record of 1788 runs and 9 centuries (I think two scores of 192). Awsome batting. He is a gentle cricketer and never found in a controversy. Beyond doubt he is the best cricketer.

Sachin is at present in a total disarray. For the first time I saw Sachin dreading, trembling while blocking an overpitch delivery from SA bowler Langefalt. Never seen. I realy find the master in serious problem. The entire team is short on confidence.

Ricky is consistently climbing the ladder and is in the footsteps of Sir Don Bradman. Wonderful cricketer with all ranges of shots. The pull is remarkable. The best exponent of pull shot in the world of cricket right now.

I consider Sachin Tendulkar as the best cricketer in the wold as of today as he holds the record for most centuries in Test Cricket and ODI and also most runs in ODI. He is a utility bowler too. While presently he is out of form, I am sure he will regain him form and come back strongly to score more centuries and runs in the near future.
