I set a limit on how much I'm going to spend for the holiday, total. Then I divide that up among the people I have to shop for and make a list based off of how much I can spend on them. When it's shopping time, I withdraw the amount of cash I budgeted and don't take any credit cards or checkbooks with me. When the list is done and the money is spent, I'm done shopping. This was the only way I could stop myself from buying "Just one more sweater" for my sister every year; it actually works really well. Besides, if everyone is only going to get one gift, I work a lot harder to make sure it is something meaningful.

That is extremely nice of you and it shows that you have an extremely kind heart. I would (for the rest of this season set a limit on how much you want to spend in total.
Then make a list of all the people that you have to buy for, for your friends that you are not that close with (IE non family friends, or non close friends) I would take a small amount of the total budget and set it on the side for them.; after wards divide it by how many people would fit that category and spend that amount on each person. Even though it might be less than what you had wanted it is still something. Set a little more on the side for family friends and divide it the same way as you did for your friends. Do the same for your family.
After Christmas is over I would try to find a big plastic bank at one of those after Christmas sales. Every day before you go to bed empty out all of your pockets and put all of your loose change and dollar bills in there. Check your coat pockets at the end of the day too. This will be very helpful next year. You could probably have over $300!With this you wont have any financial struggles to worry about at the beginning of the next Christmas season.
For this Christmas instead of a second gift maybe give each person a small tin of baked cookies.
Merry Christmas and God Bless

when you drop down comatose in the middle of the shopping mall.
just buy 1-2 gifts for each person sounds good. you are being very thoughtful, that's nice to see. perhaps you could instead of shopping try making some homemade gifts, photo frames, pencil holders with special photos on them, baked goods, etc.

Making a list ... checking it twice ...
stick to the budget ... and get one thing nice ..
That is how you get over the feelings of overspending and compulsive Christmas shopping -- go with a list, check the names off the list, and limit to what you ONLY have on the list!

well if you think they will love a gift you got them but can't help getting them more...get them something cheap but cool and stop shopping for that person. like i got my friend a $50 card thing for best buy, then i hid the card inside the box of her $4 charm bracelet at wal-mart. cool charm bracelet though...i mean don't just look for low prices look for quality. ok talikng too much so bye and good luck w/ christmas!

set a limit in money... example: $50 is enough for most family, $30 for friends, and $100 for ur children or grandchildren (or more in the case of getting them a gaming consol such as an x-box which is better than play station if i might add).

Wow. 2 gifts for each person is very generous of you.. Just think of how people normally just give 1 gift for each person and you will feel that you have done enough..
Good luck.

Not me I am a grinch, I think that if you find someone something that they really need I get it for them, if not I don't get them anything, Then anytime I find the perfect thing for them I get it for them and don't feel gulity. My Dad and I don't even exchange gifts because of this.
