Great places to donate to are the Salvation Army, The Red Cross, or any organization like that. Also, at a lot of malls, you can find wish lists of people who don't get much for the holidays. Also, look at Starbucks, there are donation bins there!

I would recommend food banks, there are a lot of hungry children who otherwise wouldn't have any kind of holiday dinner. You can check locally for one that's close to you. You may even consider donating some time at the local soup kitchen. They are almost always understaffed, and the feeling you'll get will be a big payoff. Seeing the gratitude in someones face always warms my heart.
Good luck

Salvation Army, Goodwill, Volunteers of America, Fire Fighters for Kids, Toys for Tots, some WalMarts have donation boxes, also check out the Army/Navy/Airforce/Marine bases there and see if they take donations.
