1)
let x + 6x^2 - 2 = 0
x^2 + (1/6)x = 1/3
x^2 + (1/6)x + (1/12)^2 = 1/3 + 1/144
(x + 1/12)^2 = 49/144
x + 1/12 = ± 7/12
x = 1/2, -2/3
x + 6x^2 - 2 = (x - 1/2)(x + 2/3)

2)
A)
x^2 + 8x = -3
x^2 + 8x + 3 = 0
x = - 4 ± √(16 - 3)
x = - 4 ± √13
B)
(- 4 + √13)^2 + 8(- 4 + √13) =? -3
16 - 8√13 + 13 - 32 + 8√13 =? -3
16 + 13 - 32 = - 3

1. 6x^2 + x - 2 = (3x + 2)(2x - 1)
x = 2/3, 1/2

2. x^2 + 8x +3 = 0

[1] (3x + 2) (2x - 1)
[2] (x + 4)^2 - 16 = -3
(x + 4)^2 = 13
x + 4 = sqrt(13)
x = sqrt(13) - 4
x = 1.8988 - 4 or x = -1.8988 - 4
x = -2.1012 or x = -5.8988
