my home computer will pick it up but my labtop wont. Could I have a bad card or is there an antenna that i can buy?

Well, you shouldn't be stealing anything, but if your laptop doesn't work, then just use your computer that DOES work. I have no idea what is wrong with your laptop, just get as close as you can to their internet connection.

why don't you just knock on his door and ask him if you could plug your ethernet wire into his router???
it would be a lot easier and it won't slow down his internet at all!
