I really like jazz. modern, and hip-hop, and was wondering what is the best thing to do if you are a late-starter to dance. How should I train and catch up? If there are any professionals dancers or anyone who have gone through the same situation that can answer this would be great. Thank you.

It's never too late for guys. There is always a need for guy dancers in my opinion. I would just practice as much as possible, take classes, and set high goals. Some people are just made to dance and can outdance even the kid who started when he was four. Trust me. I started late (16) and still ended up winning our high school dance award two years later. I was up against some very stiff competition, including a girl who had trained with a professional ballet since she was four or so. Just set really high goals.

I don't want to dissuade you from following your dreams, but most people who go professional start young, and become professionals in their teens or 20's. That being said, find a technique class, so you can learn how to do turns and leaps properly, do pilates and other stretching to increase your flexibility, and start looking into dance schools, perhaps in NYC. Also, take ballet; even if you don't want to do ballet professionally, it will help hone your skills and increase your flexibility. If you could find a personal trainer or a dance teacher willing to give private lessons, that might be a good idea as well. I'm far from being a professional, but I thought I'd offer you a few tips to get you started. Good luck!

hi,
start off by taking ballet/hiphop/jazz classes. this'll increase your flexibility and all sorts. Go watch dance musicals or shows just to inspire you. You haven't said how old you are but my aunt is going through a similar situation. she did dance n gymnastics when she was younger and then had attacks of epilepsy and damaged her back. she's now 36 and is taking contemporary dance classes. she's unemployed. If you're working i suggest that you either quit and take as many dance classes or study a degree in dance if they allow you but if not- stay at work and just work around it making time.
it's never too late.
especially if it's your dream.
just go for it.

you don't say how old you are. i noticed when ppl ask this question, their definition of "late" varies. some ppl think that 13 is too late! you can start dancing and aim to be a pro as late as your late teens. however, men tend to fare better when starting their dancing careers late. also keep in mind that it is easier for older ppl to go into dance forms like modern or tap rather than ballet.

i actually do take excitement in what you have shared right here. i do no longer discover it humorous in any respect, yet I do discover it unhappy because of the fact maximum of it are authentic. there are various parents who've been so busy working and getting money that they have neglected their toddlers. they attempt to cover up their overlook with the aid of giving them fabric issues and vast allowances, yet they weren't probable there for their toddlers. in addition to, i think of toddlers in recent times are uncovered to too a lot laptop video games which commonly are violent and not stable for toddlers. This could be examine with the aid of all parents, style of a warning or a coaching on what to no longer do in the event that they choose to improve their teenagers appropriate.
