Locate a picture of your mom at any given age, and then locate a picture of you at the same age. (Head and shoulder pics work best) Have the pics made into the same size. Frame them professionally with a sweet sentiment at the bottom near the matt. Think of something you want to tell your mom like, ("Mom, I love you" or "Mom, I hope when I grow up I'm just like you"or "To you Mom, my best friend".) Have fun with this and good luck!

You can begin by showing her that you are capable of using the English language correctly. At least she will know all the years spent teaching you were not in vain. Try something simple. How many pictures do you have of you and your Mom together? Scan and print these off. Create a special scrap book just for her. Include any special momentos, cards etc that you have in your posession. Trust me, it will have a far greater impact than buying her a big screen plasma TV or something because you are showing her that you remember and care about what she has given you.

Give her a mothers ring! Put your birthstone and if you have any brothers or sisters put them in to. Plus hers also. Or you could make her something anything handmade usually tells someone you care very much for them...
