If you could do something to help unfortunate (lack of a better word(s)) kids during Christmas, what would you do? Who would you do it for? Give details. Please make it interesting and a little different (but anytihng will do) Well, whatever you would do to help. And if this was happening, would you take part in it or give?

I would try to make sure my generousity did not stop with Christmas, but would continue throughout the year. Sometimes we forget that these poor children and families have to muddle through the rest of the year, as well. So how about this...there are organizations out there that you can "adopt" a family of kids/parents for the holidays. You can find them by contacting your local welfare office. If you could get your business or school to sponsor one of these needy families for the holidays, they will provide you with a wish list of things they want/need. You could go one step further by adopting them for the entire year, putting food on their table, taking care of some of their bills, paying rent, etc. I think that would be the ultimate opportunity for that family in need.

Every year, the month before Christmas, I had BOTH of my Disabled Children start going through their closets -- and look for things that they do not play with or use or wear anymore -- and those things were put in the plastic Rubbermaid Bins ... and I would take the bins down to the local Goodwill Store and Donate the things ...
What I told them was that Santa appreciates it when they give up something that they no longer have fun with or need ... because Santa remembers this when he puts his list together to visit the good and generous little boys and girls at Christmastime.

At my job, instead of getting gifts for each other, we collect money and then get needy children off of the angel tree and go shopping for them. In fact I am going shopping for two of them tomorrow. We split them up. There is a $40 limit for each child. I have gone over too. They put needed items and wanted items and we try to get both on there. The other employees are shopping for the other children. We will wrap them up and give them out closer to Christmas. Churches also have needy families that I have done the same in the past. We would get the money, go to a local shopping store, wrap, and deliver. It is fun to do and rewarding experience.
I also donate throughout the year to children's charities. There is a local hospital charity that I donate that I know the money goes to help the children and their family. This hospital actually has the sick children make their own christmas cards to sell also for the benefit of the hospital. They choose so many of them.

If I had the money, definitely donate personally. If possible hiring a Santa Clause figure to go around with the whole costume and bag and all. Go to one of the orphanages or homeless shelters around and hand out presents, warm food, and if possible a decent christmas tree. Everyone deserves to experience at least on egood Christmas! getting others to help is even beter! Show those who've lost hope and faith in life and give em a little push yknow?

a lot of churches participate in 'Operation Christmas Child' where you fill up a shoe box with toys and gifts and they send it to kids all over the world who wouldn't normaly get christmas presents and i love that you get to pick a boy or girl and the age group you want. AND IT'S YEAR ROUND. Check out their website and make sure your volumes up to learn about it
You don't have to go to a church to do it you could just drop it off or mail it to them

Contact your local children's hospital. Ask for the rules of giving.Ask what they need most.
Also your local ambulance company. When my daughter had to be in an ambulance for the first time, they gave her a huge stuffed animal to hold on to and then to keep once she made it to the hospital. It was a great idea.

You could become a volunteer at a children's charity event or collect money for a children's hospital. Watch it though you don't want to be mistaken by a pedophile.
