i in my view think of the song is speaking approximately how for the era of green Day (or somebody else's) existence, they have had a handful of broken targets and many cases, they should go through or wade by using them. So existence is the side street they're walking by using and broken targets are form of like the previous memories (injury ups, unreachable targets, unsuccessful in college, dying of acquaintances and family members, etc.)

Yes I think its a good song.
Green Day is getting a very bad rep because people think its cool to hate things that they think everybody likes. They played a great concert except for when he practically dropped his pants and um.. had a little fun on stage. That was a little awkward and uncalled for.
