I'm not sure how old you are, but have you thought about taking care of younger kids. Lots of parents struggle round this time of year when schools close and they're still at work. If you're an older teenager (male or female) you might be able to find work as a short term nanny/babysitter.

Or what about advertising your services to help with Christmas shopping or whatever busy people need doing? You could charge a set amount per hour for whatever they need doing. Your parents might be the start of a network for you and then you could get work through word of mouth as well as putting a notice up somewhere like Checkers or Pick n Pay.

Again, if you're older, places like Edgars, Jet, Checkers, CNA etc etc might all take on extra temp staff to help over Christmas.

Good luck.
