It's my personal opinion really, I'm not keen on this name because it can be shortened to 'Lou', I like Louisa but as you rightly say it is really Louise, but in disguise. If you are happy I would say go for it.
I am not keen on the vast number of Irish boys names around, personally, Kieran, Kallum .....etc I don't like.
The 'A' does soften the name but I would say don't be scared to go for something different all together and use Louise as a middle name even.
We were going to call our baby Layella, we liked Layla but wanted something more unusual.
My son is called Rheegan, which is an Australian spelling of the girls name Regan! We had no problem agreeing on his name at all.
It's hardly much different to Logan or the girls name's Meegan or Teegan, etc
We also chose two middle names, one from each side of the families' grandparents.
I would say don't be afraid to experiment, after all every child is an individual.
Good luck xx

Stay with Louise. Try to envision her as a CEO. What sounds better..Louisa Jones, or Louise Jones? Who would you take more serious? Old fashioned names are more popular nowadays than Heather and Tiffany.
Remember, she's only going to be a child for a few years, you can always call her Louisa or Louiseee.

I don't care for the sound of it. It doesn't sound very graceful, and there is still a masculine weight to it.
"Louisianna" keeps coming to mind, but you don't want to name her that.
Hmm, how about the girl's name "Lois?"
You might be satisfied with making her middle name "Louise."
Of course, Louise can indeed be a girl's name, as demonstrated by your grandmother-in-law. You do realize that this "little girl" will become a "big girl," then a "woman," and eventually an "old lady," right? Her name should fit all of those occasions.

It sounds good, sounds like a spanish/latin girl named Luisa cause it's pronounced the same way.
