It is truly senseless and barbaric. I feel like we have moved back in time 1,000 years.
The Bible says, "Thou shalt not kill" A punishment was only ever supposed to be a form of correction, that is why prisons are called correctional institutions. They are supposed to help set the person on a better path in life.
Well how have you done that if you have killed him? How is he "reformed" by that, or given another chance at life? And his death is not going to bring back the person that was killed. That is nothing but blind rage and senseless revenge. Most of the families that want the person put to death are very sorry later, and they realize they never should have done it. Then they feel much worse then they did before.
A we now know punishment is the least effective form of behavior modification. There are many methods that work much better.

As long as we have animals that molest , kill and rape the death penalty is a fitting punishment. Actually I like the waiting on death row mental punishment better that the penalty itself.
Of course you liberals have more pity for a death row inmate ( candle light vigils and all ) more than the life of an unborn human being.

I personally dont believe in the death penalty but if somebody commits a pre-meditated murder why not take their life they didnt care enough about the person they killed and why should all of us tax paying americans foot the bill for some asshole to sit on death row for ever

The most comprehensive study I've seen on this topic has concluded that an average of 14 lives are saved for every prosecution and execution of the death penalty.
If I were on death row and wrongly convicted, I would still support the death penalty knowing that 14 people will not die because I did. Don't get me wrong, I will fight to be acquitted, to prove my innocence, but I would still support the practice of executing murderers.
My blog is at http://judgeright.blogspot.com

some crimes are so heinous that they demand a really heinous penalty for doing them.
pre-meditated murder, - where one PLANS on killing someone else for whatever reason
murder for hire- where someone not only PLANS to kill someone but pays an acomplice to make it happen!
the original intent was to deter such crimes, but many feel that "a life for a life" is not an acceptable form of punishment.

there are people called "psychopaths" who have no conscience, and do not feel guilt. they cannot be changed - after 30 years of research - this is very clear. they have been studied clinically and neurologically, and they are very different from normal people. they are evil, manipulative, charismatic, and literally do not have human emotions. I feel that they should be executed because they aren't human and will not ever be non-criminal.
quote from a psychopath: "im not human, im an actor playing human"
I dont even consider it murder to put a psychopath to death via the death penalty. they're not human.
