I guess it is because it is a feel good time. You are right and we need to be generous to people in need all the year roundnot just when we have a special time like Easter and Christmas.

Because the needy don't ask for help. It's the Rip Off artists that get into the act @ this time of the year. Follow the money, you will see what I mean.

organizations like the Salvation Army help needy people ALL THE TIME, and they've been doing so for over 100 years.
It's just that there is MORE MEDIA attention on helping the needy this time of year

This is the time of the year when most people need it. They want to have a thanksgiving and a christmas, it gets colder and it's harder on them mentaly and physcally. And everyone is in the giving spirit this time of year, so it all works out.

WE are screwed up in the good samaritan , st, francis giving department because capitalistic societies inspire greed. Every one in the u.s. claims to be a christian, but they don't think about the bit in MATTHEW where jesus says, "in as much as ye do these things to others it's as if ye do them unto me.
