National enthem is taught in schools but in Southern and North Eastern part of India, I think it might not be there in schools due to liguistic problems.

No, every one will not know the national anthem! not only in India, but in any country in the world today! Because, what was the "Age of Ideology" quite a few years ago in human history, is well behind us! "Age of Patriotism", is also history! ("My country, right or wrong", used to be a great motivator for many people all over the world, some years ago!) In today's economy driven world, the future historians will probably look back at us as people driven by 'money power': this is the age of 'money'! The age of fast food, in another perspective! Soon, we'll be looking up to 'spiritualism' to guide us on a way out from this 'money-centric'infatuation! In all this, national anthem lies neglected somewhere, not able to survive well in globalism and allied tendencies! Freedom fighters are now fighting for spiritual freedom, not political freedom any more! But it is a good idea to revive the enthusiasm for national spirit, and to re-create the beautiful, poetic, musical anthem, with correct interpretation of its substance! Thank you for the question!

My guess is No. esp in rural India where they have more pressing problems. It does not make them less patriotic. What do you think of this compulsory standing up for National Anthem before movie starts in theatres? Do you think that achieves anything ? I get goose pimples sometimes when I hear the national anthem !!

U R right.
Many Indians dont know /dont care for , our national Anthem.
Some due to more pressing problems of food, & shelter, and many others since they were never exposed to "Jana Ganaa Manna."
