I bled after intercourse and thought nothing of it. I'd read in pregnancy books that it was normal, and my nurse said it was normal as well. However, when the bleeding didn't stop for 3 days, I was horribly worried. I went to the doctor and unfortunately learned that my baby had died an entire month earlier. My body was in the early stages of miscarriage. I'm not saying this to worry you, but I do think it's incredibly important that she visit her doctor ASAP. She may just have what's called a "threatened miscarriage," but that doesn't mean it's inevitable. Prenatal care is an extremely important thing to do for your baby, with or without insurance. Best wishes for a happy outcome.

If it is a miscarriage, going to the hospital CANNOT change anything - especially at this early stage. The only thing it can offer is piece of mind by doing some blood work and an ultrasound to let you know if everything is still OK (doesn't mean it will stay that way either!). If you are 4 weeks, an ultrasound is not likely to show anything yet either.

Bleeding when pregnant can occur based on intercourse as the cervix is very sensitive during this time. If the amount of blood was more that spotting, or bright red, that is not a good sign and in all likelyhood a miscarriage is likely to occur at some point soon.

Hope it works out for you.

I had a miscarriage and bled for almost a week. There was severe cramping as well. It ended with a big blood clot the size of my hand. A miscarriage is very serious and she would know if something was terribly wrong. I did see my Dr. but chose to have a natural miscarriage not a dnc.(where they scrape it all out) I know there are Dr.'s out there that take payment plans.

I had that same problem late October, and I went and got a pap smear done. After a few test they found out I had a "sis" on my left ovary. I thought I would have to have surgery, but I didn't, it wore off on its own. They want me to come back in six months to check it out again. Lately I haven't been seeing any blood, but mines was going on for atleast 2 mnths before I decided to go to the doctor. I dont want to sound nasty or anything, but you will be fine. Make sure you get check for HPV or cervical cancer.
