Who is one of the modern leaders of our 21st century world? Why is this person credible?

A leader in world activities normally does not stand out until after that person's accomplishments have been evaluated after they have left the office they occupy. It is very difficult to critique a world leader in the present because of too many variables. We often overlook those who are not in the limelight. Often greatness is awarded after the passing of time. The 20th centruy produced many great and credible leaders, and in many cases it was after the passage of time their contribution to world events became known. Remember, for all his work, Winston Churchill was booted from office right after the War, his greatest hour many will say.

So for the 21st century, there are many of whom we are aware, and many whom we will learn in the future. But at present, they are only eligible for such distinction.

Leaders? The Pope, Bush, Blair, Kofi Annan, Osama, Al Sadr etc.

Credible leaders? There aren't any. A credible leader should have honesty and the ability to criticize their own actions and fairness and a lack of fear. None of these men fit all the criteria.

I would have to say Victor A. Yoshchenko of Ukraine. Being the president of Ukraine, he has led his people to a better economy and taught them to stand up for what they believe in. just recently he was inaugerated as president in january of 05, after a very difficult struggle through campaigning(which led to the Orange Revolution between Nov. and Dec. of 04). He is a national symbol of courage and strength in our world today.

Ronald Reagan. He was honest and kind, and respected. Dwight D. Eisenhower, same reason. Teddy Roosevelt, you guessed it, same reason. Margret Thatcher of England. King Husein of Jordan. Mikael Gorbachev of Russia.

All good people, respected and honest. I can not think of a single leader today that has all of this going for them. Can You?
