The movies Grease and Saturday Night Fever forever made John Travolta a legendary dancer.......

I will Say Michael Jackson is probably in a league of his own even better and above John Travolta....The moon walk and his leading the jackson 5 in the dance routines were amazing and almost defies gravity........ Its just too bad he got his life so confused and messed up......

Michael Jackson is by far the best dancer of all time! I can't even think of anyone else that would come close!

Ahh, if Travolta is #1 then I don't know what to tell you... My wheelchared neighbor would probably come pretty close to the 2nd or 3rd.
John Travolta is not a dancer of any caliber to speak of, as well as other actors of modern days. He dances well for an average standards, but nowhere near professional level. Education can't be succesfully based on movies and pop culture. If you want to be able to name a good dancer, why don't you watch some professional dance performances.

Mikail Barishnikov (sp?) for sure. He has got to be both the best ballet dancer and just best all around. He deserves to be recognized for all eternity. His life is amazing as well. But John Travolta, he really isn't that great. Just because he did Saturday Night Fever doesn't mean he is a god. He was good, don't get me wrong, but not the best in the world.

John Travolta could not hold a candle to Fred Astaire, or Gene Kelly. Rent a couple of Fred Astaire movies and you will see what I mean. What about Mikael Baryshnikov? Travolta is only so so. I am sorry to say. He would not even rank in the top 20 .Legendary? No way!

Gene Kelly is number 1; Fred Astere is number 2; and Travolta is probably somewhere near 50th.

John Travolta is great no doubt! Heart throb PLUS moves!

Patrick Swayze " Dirty Dancing"
Janet Jackson, now you gotta admit she is a major influence.
with her "Control" album. Even now you can see her style in many girl performers.

Michael Jackson is so innovative it is hard to place him but he probally tops them all. I love Michael Jackson the "performer" the person sorta leaves me freaked out!

Smooth Criminal, Thriller, Billy Jean, on an on..........

the hat tipping, crotch grabbing, spinning, the glove?

First place.............. Micheal Jackson
Second place..........John Travolta
3rd place.................Patrick Swayze.

Now I do like the old school............

Fred Astaire
Gene Kelly........."singing in the rain"

but their moves were not so intricate, and certainly not innovative. Nice and simple, smooth and sweet for their era. Still beautiful dance moves.................

john travolta?????????????? you young'uns are so out of it.........ever hear of Fred Astaire? Gene Kelly? Rudolf Nureyev? the list goes on......John T. danced very well, but he is certainly no professional..he trained for MONTHS for those numbers and I dont put him down, but he cannot compare to other, truly professional dancers!! but we are all entitled to our own opinions....if you mean dancers within the last 30 years, MAYBE but not for all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. I was going to say Kevin Federline but he gave up dancing when he married Britney, lol.

I vote Patrick Swayze. Smooth mover. And he was brought up dancing. Something about his mother had a dance studio or something.
