i am hoping to get my belly button repieced in the next couple of months. i took it out after about 4 months of having it in as i thought it was migrating. this might have been because i was fiddling with it or put really heavy bars in it too soon. or i could jsut have been imagining it because i am like that!!! what should i do or not do to stop it migrating?! thanks!

I have had my belly button pierced for 4 years.. It migrated a little bit. Mostly because I played with it too much. That's the best thing don't play wiht it. ANd don't use those heavy dangly belly button rings right away. Give it awhile. It's gonna migrate a little bit no matter what, but that will help it from doing it alot.

Piercings that only break through a small amount of surface skin are most likely to migrate. An experienced piercer must know how to pierce through enough flesh for a secure hold without causing tissue or nerve damage.

When you have the new piercing done, try a different kind of jewelry material like niobium or titanium instead of stainless steel. Or try a larger gauge – very small gauges like 18 or 16 are more likely to migrate than a 14 or 12.

Also, a curved barbell allows the body to move naturally without stress to the piercing and is less likely to migrate than other piercings such as rings. A curved barbell is the best initial jewelry for optimum comfort and healing without irritation or scarring.

I don't think there's much you can do about it. If it's gonna migrate, it's gonna do it. It's happened to me THREE times. I think I'm done trying. No more repiercing for me

Has it crossed a border yet ? People usually moan about immigration, not migration...
