Formerly, there were none, but recently, airlines started plying routes through the poles, especially the north pole. These routes are usually between Asia and North America and are plied in order to cut down the long travel time if the plane crossed the pacific ocean. This routes are often called the great circles, which are the most direct lines between points around the world.

there are aerial routes above the north pole or i think there are since russian goverment accepted em in '00 or something
as for the south pole, no idea =)

that's where most all of the radiation from the sun enters our magnetosphere, so one would be subjected to higher radiation and it affects electronic equipment severely.
