I am also black. I see what you are saying, but then again, I still feel like you are wrong in some ways. I do think that blacks today definitely have more opportunities; and no one is harder on a black man than myself. But your question was about racism. To stop talking about it means to ignore it, or better even, to allow it to happen. Blacks, as you should know, can't just let it go as there is still racism; the ones who do this have their own name or label, if you will. I need not say that here as I am sure you know exactly what it is.
You say that you are "living in upper middle class society," well, aren't we all? Just not as a member of that society. I am doing well myself, but we are the ones who have to educate other blacks on how to better themselves. Instead of looking down a brown (no pun intended, but take it how you will) nose or snobby nose down on the ones who have not made it to the point that we are at right now, it's better to do something about it. I educate as many blacks as I can. I help out where I can and I make sure to see it through. Don't just donate scholarship money to a fund, make sure that it goes to someone who really needs and deserves it.
There's nothing worst than a black man looking down on another black man. Because when you come out of that "upper middle class society" and start looking beyond that you find that you are still black and no amount of money is going to change that, no matter where you live and how much distance you try to put between yourself and the black culture. Your black skin is still associated with stereotypes. I'm not saying that you fit those stereotypes, but this is what type of racism there still is out there.
My advice to you is to not create a mythological realm for yourself. This hasn't ever worked. But do keep on succeeding, that's a very positive aspect, just don't let succeess create too much of a rift.

I think one of the most influenical things is it's Profitable.
Alot of junk has gotten spread so much because it's profitable. In the late 80's early 90's Companies, advertisement, exacutives,.. etc,.. all decided every child was going to be a Rap addict in one or two years, so they turned some Cartoons and Advertisement to Rap and tried to promote Rap that was against parents,.. they have controled/influenced the trend and people have finally buckled in after so long.
As for your life,.. that's what the brats in the High School I graduated from were like. They would spend thousands on a single outfit to prove they were Poor Ghetto kids. They'd get a fully loaded brand new car for their 16th Birthday, complain it wasn't tricked out,.. and have it wrecked or totalled in under 2 months. They drove me nuts,.. I had been in another area where people were very diverse and the poor people didin't give all the garbage these rich brats were coming up with,.. the people in the diverse area (color, race, upbringing, income,..) were working for things,.. the ones that wanted to do rap studied music, instruments and English because they were serious. The Ghetto Wannabes sucked at rap,.. didn't know how to use an instrument,.. took a week to do a scedualed rap out or whatever those were called your supposed to do on the spot,.. then I they did was random quotes from songs that didn't even rhyme,.. they didn't study,.. they didn't do school work and for any project especially essay when asked what their plans were for life they put " smoke pot and half lots and lots of babies" to which their teachers let them pass with and didn't complain or anything.
*rants rants rants*
So now these days everything people see,.. no matter what they are,.. is all this junk and all they hear is this junk,.. and they believe this,... even though it's not reality. It's dragging down peoples IQ every year,.. noticably,.. it's like people are loseing 10 IQ points a year since 2000 I'd say. Where does that people people at now?
People are racist on themselves,.. that's not how people are towards people,.. that's how people are to themselves. I was at a school with Self Inflicting Stupidity,.. now everyone seems to be doing that plus more Self Inflicted Racisim then those people in my school.
So like I said,.. it's Money fueling it now,.. fanning it,.. and in alot of people's heads. Those kids spent thousands on real "Ghetto" clothes. Others spent hundreds on knock offs of the same outfit.
P.S. I should say I do believe there is SOME racisim out there. However the Majority of Racisim is Fantasy. There is increaseingly more Racisim towards those Races people do not think of,.. even White,.. while others only hate themselves and do things to be jerks to everyone so anyone that doesn't like a jerk is cranky.

AMEN! AMEN!
We were born black, but we don't have to take the blame for what others do. People can only hurt you if you open them to yourself. That's why we need to grow numb.
Don't worry about the racist people or those who post questionable stuff, if it weren't for the computers for them to hide, they would not say anything. Yeah racism exist, and if you don't get a job just because of your color, would you really want to work for a racist anyway?
Do like I do, when people say racist stuff it makes THEM look bad, not you.
And plus, you kinda generalized us blacks, the crybaby's get to be on t.v. but when was the last time you saw a successful black on t.v other than rappers or athletes?
Slavery is in the past folks, something you can't change. But the future is in our hands.

I understand where you're coming from. We do need to educate ourselves before we educate others. Some people still live in the mentality " they are keeping a brother down" and someone didn't really explain to them in what context you can use that excuse. Now, it's played out and someday people are going to get tired of hearing it.
Don't worry about it, you do your thing and be better than that.

I agree with you, however a lot of other people do not. Racism was a major part of American society for hundreds of years and it will take as long if not longer for it to no longer be an issue.

I think the only way we can eliminate racism is if we all interbreed. If we all have the same things in us, we can't say that we hate one specific thing because we will be it.

no you can't just sweep it under the rug, it is always going to be previalent in today's society, whether you choose to notice or ignore it, it's there and it is always gonna be here, just because it doesn't affect you, you cannot speak for the entire black community as a whole.
