you don't just leave him be but just make sure that you still offer him food. when they go into hibernation they do get very slow and sluggish. don't worry about him, i have a tortoise and a box turtle and right now they both are hibernating and they won't come out til around march or april. also makee sure that you keep a warm light on every day but you don't want it to warm for him because if he can't hibernate right they can become sick. the hibernation is like a flu shot for us helps keep them healthy. good luck

It's funny, we are in sort of the same situation, except I am trying to get my turtles to hibernate! I recommend for waking him back up to slowly warm up his water temperature and make sure he has a nice basking spot. Don't make the water to warm, to fast becuase you might shock him. If he were in the wild, the water wouldn't just go from 60 degrees to 80 degrees in a minute so do it slowly. Offer him a little food only after you have made sure he is fully awake

I doubt its hibernating, it's probably just slowed down. The turtles need there water to be around 70 and the basking area needs to be around 90. Plus make sure you have a uvb light.

All you have to do is to get the water temp back up to 80-85 (basking sites to 90-95), and offer summery lighting.

If you do unhibernate it, you'll have to take action to prevent this from happening again.

Do you have a lamp for him to bask under? He should wake up when he gets warm. Reptiles also like a certain amount of time with full light. When the days get shorter, they slow down getting ready for winter. That's why a lamp is important to keep him warm and awake.

You don't have to worry. Your RES will be fine let it be in hibernation for 3-4 months. Then you can higher up the temperature and it will be fine. Just don't panic.

Probably because he became cold, and that will cause the hibernation. They do not move when this happens, because it is the same thing as being asleep.

when he gets warm enough he will become more active. His metabolism went down and it needs to go up slowly.
