ok...take the first day of your last period (the first day of bleeding, even if it is spotting) and count that as day 1. Then take the next day you start bleeding as the last day. (for example if you start bleeding on day 29,then you have a 28 day cycle). So if I started bleeding on Dec. 1st ( day 1) and had a normal cycle, Then I started bleeding on December 29th that would mean that you have a 28 day cycle because you started bleeding on day 29. Does that make sense? I hope so!!!

Day 1 of your cycle is the first day of your period (red blood). The last day of your cycle then would be the last day before your next period. Not sure if that answered your question--more details about your question might help.

When you get your menstrual cycle and remember the first day you got the period and remember the first day you get the next cycle and count those days. I actually have been using the ovulation calendar on webmd to help me keep track of my cycles.

You count from the first day of red blood flow to the last day before the first day of your next day of red blood flow. In October the first day of red blood for me was 10.07 and the last day before my next period was 11.04, so that cycle was 29 days. I started on 11.05 and today is 12.01 and I have not started, so I am on cycle day 27, and I should start in the next 2-3 days. My cycles range from 28-30 days.

DO NOT COUNT FROM THE FIRST DAY YOU SPOT, OR THINGS WILL NOT BE RIGHT!!!!!!!!

what i do monthly is as soon as i start my cycle i mark it on the calendar and as soon as i come off i mark that day. when the next month comes around just look for your period on the same day you marked it last month and see if your period will come on around the same day each month. good luck
