No you cannot. Don't listen to the people that say it might be possible (it would only be possible if you had a certain model of an Alienware laptop, which is doubtful). The next time you're looking into a laptop make sure you get at least 128mb dedicated, or 256mb if you can afford the extra hundred or so. If you make the transition to Vista you will be happier with a higher video memory.
The upgradable laptop video cards didn't catch on because there wasn't enough of a market for them, so they were a little expensive.

PCMCIA - being phased out
USB
Firewire 1394
I have not seen an external device to do what you're asking.

nope. most laptops do not allow this. some of them, however, do allow this but it wasn't very popular because of their size so they didn't sell much of it.
however, they do have external video cards that you can hook it up to a laptop.
