We are watching it in class tomorrow and my son would like to go with me, but I'm not sure about it because it's rated R. I know it will be violent and I doubt there will be a bunch of profanity, but are graphic sex scenes or any really abusive situations like things against women. He's 12, so I'm not real picky, but there are just some things I don't want him to see. His church showed his class the passion of the christ. Is it worse than that?

YES! I would not take a 12 yr old to it. There is a lot of violence and a partial sex scene between a married woman and the hero. The violence alone though would do it. Think of "The Patriot" now put it on steroids. It is an accurate portrayal of war during the crusades after all.
