Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?
Just remember, take each moment like it will be the last. This I feel will be a good start for you in knowing. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Hmm...........slow down tiger. Looks can be mislead. Don't rush into this. You are unshore but you can sense an attraction. Sounds like your gung ho on persueing this so this is what you do. Strike up conversation with her one day. Don't make it too obvious. You can do this a few ways. Have a friend find out what's up with her. See who knows her. End up in the library with her one day. Drop something by her or be in the aisle next to hers try to pull the same book she's reading. Try to end up behind her at lunch and comment on what they are serving. Don't stalk her by doing all this at once or even in the same week. Say working in conversation about something related to same sex relations. Like that lesbian version of BrokeBack Mountain with Beyonce. See how the vibe is coming from her. If your not getting that vibe back off. You don't want to start rumors. Play it safe.

Talk to her. Are you in a class together or is there some other commonality between you that can be used as a conversation starter? Be smart about this. She could be staring at you because she likes you...or she's curious about you but not in "that way". At the very least, you may gain a friend...if not a girlfriend.

When I wa in high school I had the same question. Do it! Pull her to the side and see hows shes feeling, or if your shy then you can always write it in a letter. But dont sit back and wonder...this is the time in your life where you have to explore and find yourself. This could be the begining.
