i would adopt if i couldn't have kids but there is something different about it being your own flesh and blood vs an adopted child. Not that you can't love that adopted child it just takes very special people to do that and not everyone can. I want to adopt one but my husband says know because he is scared to death we will get attatched and the birth parents will take the child back. Also, most people who want to adopt want babies and babies are often hard to come by, no one wants the older children which is a shame.

It's a matter of having a child that is their flesh and blood.
I tried to have my son for a year and a half. I wouldn't go through the in-vitro process or any other fertility treatment. I do not know why but I figured what will be, will be.
I now have one beautiful son and my cousin who has lived with me for the past two years. Though I do want to have more children of my own, I'm also planning on adopting more children. I think adoption is a great thing--regardless of the age. There's nothing better then helping someone in need. In the case of adoption I think it works both ways--for the child and the parent.

I think it is because some people think that they will love the child more if it is their own blood. Also some people want a baby and it is a lot harder to get a baby. I totally agree with you though. If I were to adopt a child then I would go through like a state adoption agency. Also from what I understand is that for a couple to adopt they have to meet certain criteria. Some of this criteria is impossible for some couples to reach.

HONESTLY I think it is because couples want to have a child of their OWN. My mother had already had three kids of her own when she met my step dad and they wanted to have a baby of their own and took every measure to become pregnant with no success, they suffered through several miscarriages and such, but I don't think there is anything wrong in wanting a child of your own and now a days adopting is a big deal still, yes there are still alot of kids in foster homes and being put up for adoption and what I have to say to that is if people who didn't wish to become pregnant would have taken the proper measures to ensure that pregnancy wouldn't happen then there would be less children being put up for adoption, unless you have gone through not being able to have a child of your own then you wouldnt understand it, I myself would love to adopt but not right now I want to have my own kids first, but I have noticed alot of people that I know have adopted children there are quite a few actually. One for example had adopted all of her children because she was unable to have children of her own so it does happen but I think that some couples would prefer to try for a child of their own and if that is un-successfull then they usually do go and adopt babies.

People go through fertility treatments and in-vitro fertilization and surrogate moms and things because they really want a child that's genetically related to them.
It's nothing I can explain. There's an urge to actually reproduce and not just to raise a child.

I don't know about where you are, but there are always ads in the paper here about parents who are very very willing to adopt, but there aren't kids available to adopt.
