You are going to be told it is about religion... but I think sometimes holidays take on a meaning beyond the religious aspect...
For me that meaning is giving. Not just rushing to the mall and buying everything we can and can't afford... it means giving people time and emotions and love. Last year our family gave all of our "present money" in the form of donations to charity... one that gives people goats or cows - so they can give their kids milk and make cheese and have nourishment.
So... the textbook answer is the birth of Jesus and the presents represent the three wise men... but you can find meaning in your actions that make Christmas meaningful for you in your life, even if you aren't religious.
Happy Holidays!

In Roman times, the 25th was the winter solstice, and they celebrated by being merry, giving gifts, and eating (im sure there was some god being honored too - Saturn I think). When Christianity came about, the church adopted many Roman customs and holidays, but with a new Christian twist, in order to win over converts. Originally, they said Jesus was born on the 25th, but now it is often just refered to as the day celebrating his birth (whenever it really was, who knows). But the day can mean whatever you and your family want it too!

Jesus is the reason for the season!!! We give presents in honor of the wise men who presented Jesus with gifts. The world has so corrupted this holiday that many do not really understand the importance of the celebration. they just spend ridiculous amounts of money and they forget all about Christ who is the reason for the entire holiday in the first place.

i think of it particularly is unfair to think of each and every teen is materialistic and spoiled, however the old female's impressive in the experience. many each and every physique is forgetting why we celebrate Christmas in the 1st place. and that i'm no longer purely conversing concerning the beginning of Jesus. Christmas is a time for acquaintances and family individuals, for remembering the previous 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. you're able to attend to Christmas Day to hug as a lot of human beings as achieveable, and tell them you adore them, because of the fact Christmas is a time whilst each and every you are able to still stop being egocentric. desire that helped.

Christmas is all about family and friends and the gifts are just an incidental side line. Having a beautiful Turkey dinner with all the trimmings and good company is all that really matters.

In the Christian context, this represents the day when God expressed the highest point of love by giving us Christ.
In the same way, presents are one representation of "giving".
But there could be more meaningful ways of showing love to those who most need it, not only during this season but throughout the year.

Here is a link for the true meaning of Christmas.

It's the day Christians believe their Messiah was born. Giving gifts means to show love and appreciation for those you care about just as the three wise men brought gits to baby Jesus.

Christmas is the time to celerate the birth of Jesus Christ, that's why it is called "Christ"mas. I don't know why they made Christmas in December, Jesus' real birthday is April something.
We give presents to show love like what Jesus did for us.
