I have a question. Why are these comedians? popular. I have heard snippets of their acts but understand that they make millions of dollars and peole flock to see them. Why? I saw a guy with a hat that said Larry the cable guy on it. Are these the same type of people that go to Jimmy Buffet shows? I am 48 years old white and from Los Angeles and have been all over the world. I do not understand it. I find this utterly fascinating that people watch and listen to this stuff. I am not trying to be a smart *** or cute- honestly.

Those guys are just funny. But I can see that they may be an acquired taste. All of the guys have come to our small local theatre and the shows have been sell-outs (I live in Michigan). If you have lived in Los Angeles all your life, you may not understand the southern way of life or the southern sense of self-depreciating humor. My family has relatives down south and we have traveled extensively there, so I guess we just appreciate it a bit more. If you don't like them or don't understand them, that's certainly your right.

The cable guy is pretty piggish. Forget him. But I find Jeff Foxworthy's self-effacing humor very funny and intelligent. Perhaps you haven't seen enough of his stuff? His series on "You know you're a redneck when" is a riot. Such as, You know you're a redneck when.... your family tree doesn't branch - adding onto your house means getting a double-wide (as in trailer) - you tell your girlfriend she's 'pertier' than a set of white wall tires, etc. One of his other cohorts talks about getting drunk and arrested at a New York City bar, where he "had the right to remain silent but not the good sense to." It's a style of humor that is not for everyone. They're down to earth and brass, but they're much better than the comedians who think blurting the "f" word out extra-grammatically in every sentence is hysterical. Speaking of that, don't base you're opinion on the cable guy. He's strictly "potty humor." Jeff and the rest of his "blue collar crew" are very funny, in my humble opinion.

Its probably just a matter of a charming personality getting by with kind of lame material. That guy has been using basically a one joke act for years worth of material and a TV series, it goes beyond the jokes, people just can relate to him. Obviously you can't and that's fine, but that's all its about.

It's all personal taste. I love those Blue Collar Comedy guys. I've been to comedy clubs and heard the audience roaring at, what I thought was a crappy comedian, but I didn't think it was funny at all.

I think they are really funny. I mean, I am not facinated by them, they just make me laugh and that is always a good thing since life is so full of sadness.

Where i live...we all love them. i guess some of it has to be because my high school was in the middle of a corn field. and we were "hicks"
plus its how you grew up. You are from L.A. I don't see many "hicks" and rednecks from that area.

you should rent/buy one of the blue collar comedy tour movies and you will understand....i think they are so hilarious because they relate to everyday life.
