why do they think?

i dont know why it just seems like people think 12-14 year olds cant think for themselves people make it sound like they are stupid on person who was asking what 12 year old girls look for in guys, some of the replies were like they shoudlnt be looking for a guy they should be playing tag and riding their bike, teenagers are a little more complex than the average 9 year old. why do they think they are stupid? when i was in middle school wich was not long ago well you wouldnt believe some of the stuff they talked about in lunch and in the halls i just think people underestimate todays teens, but why?

thanx finally sum people who kno where im coming from, i am so glad im not alone, my mom says that she doesnt want me to grow up but i gotta tell her you cant stop me and i cant stop myself thanks ladies.

alot of parents like to be able to hold on to their younguns till the end there just scared of the world not us

Because so many things have changed since adults where teens.

I'm only nineteen years old. When I was 12 I was riding my bike. I was still playing with Barbies. I was not interested in boys--I still played tackle football with them.

It's irritating because you see teens growing up faster and faster the more time goes by. Don't be surprised when you are my age to see kids nine or ten interested in boys and being "complex."

There is no doubt in my mind that kids can be complex and individual people. I respect kids who do think for themselves but more then often they do not. They think the way other kids think. Many young kids go with the crowd, fall under peer pressure easily, and just want to be "cool." I remember not caring if I was cool. At that age I was just finding out my likes and dislikes in music let alone my likes and dislikes in boys. It's just unfathomable kids having sex at twelve.

I hope this answers your true question. This is why adults do not think kids should be kids. It's not that we don't think you don't have intelligence but under the pressures in society it's hard to believe.

we have transformed this society into an over protective one. I am 12 turing 13, and like everyone thinks that teens are morons. I once read some book, and because it had sex references in it, everyone was acting like i was three years old, not like i had sex ed 3 YEARS ago. And everyone acts like if they leave you alone, your gonna run away and do drugs. If i am like 20 minutes late cause i forgot about some club after school, everyone thinks i SKIPPED SCHOOL!!!! The only thing you can do is tell people that try to do this you are not a baby, and that kids today are not the same as they were 50 to 30 years ago. We are more mature, and if they keep acting like we are not, we might just do what they don't want us to do.

Well first of all please understand older people speak to younger people with knowledge and experience .what you feel most of the people who speak to you have experienced similar situations .please take alot of the advice you get from sincere older folks because down the line you will say "damn I should have listened to them " its true . I thought everyone was dumb and didnt know what they were talking about when it came down to my life as a teen . Honestly they knew exactly what they were talking about because now as an adult who screwed up alot of my late teens and early twenties I used to look back and regret not listening .I do understand that as a teen you got new feelings ,you are having new experiences and this makes you feel incontrol of your life but your not ! this is just a test run and you could ruin it all for the future .Please take life a little slower and watch first watch your freinds have sex and have a baby at fifteen , watch your friends drop out of school and become bums ,watch your friends get addicted to drugs and all of that stuff . do you want that to be you? think about how you want to appear to your kids and who you really want to be because most of the kids you think are cool arent going to be when you grow up . the smart ones ,the ugly ones and the unpopular ones will run circles around you financially as an adult .the more you listen as a child the more you prepare to become a responsible adult with a real future .just ask some of the grown ups you dont like to listen to and they will say the same !

idk but i'm 13 and that bugs me really badly!! i mean todays teenagers are like yesterdays (really like 5 years ago's) 20's. i mean sometimes i hear some bad things that like would shock me if i was an adult, but now i'm just kinda like used to it. so to all you like ppl who were like " go ride your bike or whatever" just listen were just a tad bit different when you were teens like i guess there were things called like "virgin pins" and they were popular....well know they're incrediably un-popular and you wouldn't be caught dead with one.....cause unfortunally most kids ages 15 and up are not elligiable to wear those "virgin pins" (if you know what i mean)

i kno where ur coming from, im 13 turning 14 in about a month and my mom still makes fun of me when i say i have a boyfriend. she doesnt think i could love someone, when her first boyfriend was 2 years yunger and she was in grade 8.. like wtf, if she could think for herself bak then, then whats so wrong about us thinking for ourselves now!? we're teens, not toddlers!
