There are many thousands of different kinds, if not millions! They are usually characterized mainly according to shape (round = cocci, rod shaped = bacilli) or according to how they react when stained with a set of dyes chosen by Dr Gram - if they stain red then they are gram-negative and if blue they are gram positive. This is important because different antibiotics are used to treat G+ or G- infections. Another main division is between the aerobic (living in oxygen rich areas) vs the anaerobic (living without oxygen).
Beyond that little bit of information, there is a huge amount more to learn about them! Lots of diseases are caused by bacteria, such as diptheria, dysentery, tuberculosis, gonorrhea, syphilis, pneumonia, skin infections, wound infections, eye, ear, nose and throat infections, etc. etc.

There are two types: gram + and gram -. Then you would have the shape of the bacteria, cocci (round), bacilla (rod) or spiral.
