october hence the nickname for the world series "The Fall Classic" ("The Summer Classic, the All Star game, is in july)
All world series Games have taken place in October execpt for the 2001 WS where they played games in November becuase the 9/11Games delayed the regular season for a week, then they played the originally scheduled games, then played the postponed 9/11 games in october ending the season a week late. Thus, the earlier playoff rounds were each played a week later than scheduled.

The World Series is always in October, unless games get postponed like in the 2001 season, that year the WS ran into early November.
