I was just wondering. . I started having a terrible time with my gallbladder during this pregnancy and my Dr says it has to come out as soon as possible after I deliver the baby. I was just wondering if I had a c-section if the gallbladder could be removed during that procedure?

Talk to your doctor but most likely not. They now ususally use the bandaid type surgeries to remove gallbaldders./ tiny incissions . Would not be near where a C-section is done. The area the incission is made to do the C-section is low. Your abdomen is not "open" from that area to the gall bladder area. From a c-section incission your uterus, intestines and stomach would be in the way of the gall bladder. You don't even want a surgeon moving stuff around any more than he can help.

I had my gallbladder removed about 8 months later... Its in a totally different region.. I have a nice tiny little 2 inch scar under my right boob where my gall bladder was, the c-section scar is way down in the pelvic region.. So I dont know if you can have both, cause gynocologists are not the same type of doctors that do gallbladders, unless the 2 coordinate together and do both surgeries within the same time frame..

I am not really sure that would be something that you would have to talk to your doctor about. Usually when you have a c-section they cut along the bikini line and with the gallbladder they cut a few small cuts up closer to you belly button

I am a surgical tech in the OR and no this cannot and will not be done. A cholecystectomy is done either laparoscopically or by a laparatomy. The incision for a c-section is not anywhere near the incision of for the laparatomy and they go in through your naval and then make three more tiny incisions on your upper abdomen to do the lap chole.

i had two c sections and honestly when in the hospital i felt great but as soon as i got home and got to caring for my babies (24 months apart) i got more and more sore. 1 week after my second i had to send my older child off because i just couldn't chase him anymore. getting out of bed in the morning for the first 3 weeks was excruciating. i realize it wouldn't have been as bad except that my hard *** doctor only prescribed me twenty hydrocodone pain killers to recover from major surgery. i was so anxious so get out of the hospital because i was feeling great i was only there 2 days but i warn you milk this for all you've got lol you need that extra recovery time and after major surgery getting mom better needs to be your priority although all your going to wanna do is get that baby home and enjoy him/her. best of luck to you and your baby and these next few weeks DON'T SEND AWAY HELP because the more that others do for you the less you have to do for yourself! :)

My mom had this same problem, and I believe she had both done at the same time, abou 30 yrs ago. I'm sure your Dr wil be able to let you know though. Good luck!

I see no reason why it couldn't be done at the same time. But check with your doctor to be sure.
