When you are on stage looking out to the audience don't look directly at them or one person. Look at the tops of their heads. they feel you are still looking at them but you don't have to worry about eye contact. that is what makes people hesitate and loose their spot. Remember they are just people like yourself and take several deep breathes before going on and take sips of water as well.

Number one, just stay where your told to on stage, and chances are the lights wont let you see much out side the stage... 2, just remember that youve for to have been good to get there, and someone thought so, so whats to be nervious about. And if worse comes to worse, improv babe. Make it up.. So you lost your breath and tripped during your "song"...who said it was a song, now its a comedy act that ends with a song. Take what happens and roll with it. As a musician i screw up all the the time. Wanna know the true definition of showmanship?...using an audiances stupidity to our advantage. 99.9 percent of the people in that house dont know a dang thing about what your doing and wont even know if you mess up unless you make it obvious. I mess up a song, do i stop and say sorry? NO!!! i take it and roll and make it seem like it was supposed to happen and now everyone loves me becuase i did it perfectly... See how it works? Their stupid...use it

This may sound bazaar but I have seen it work. The Japanese started a program whereby they would take people that were shy and scared of public speaking and make them go into shopping malls and on street corners where they would be made to read aloud to everyone and anyone that was around. What they read was not important, but the fact that they read out loud in a place where nobody was expecting it got them used to being in front of people. It was an exercise in assertiveness and to build self confidence. Oddly enough it works!
After doing something like that, being in front of people who are there to actually hear what you say and do will be easy!

well, when i have a play to do, i usually get really worried... the best thing you can do is to practice your lines in front of other people, like your friends and family. also, don't think of the BAD things that could happen, think of all the GREAT things that will probably happen!

-Practice your routine in a number of different locations facing different directions so you won't be so nervous when you get on stage.
-Breathe.
-When you perform, think of it as just another practice.
-Have fun!

focus on someone in the back of the room, and talk as if you were speaking to them, by focusing on the back of the room will ease you so your breathing will become relax

just think of what you are doing.
not the audience or the stage.
and practice your stuff in front of family and friends 1st. that will help ALOT. or practice naked, if you can do it naked, you can do it anywhere. (not in front of your family and friends of course)
the old trick of picturing people in underwears works for some people. i couldn't do it, but picturing them as chimps were easy for me ;)
good luck and most of all. HAVE FUN!

I always imagined what I was about to do and focused on that. Once I got started, it was always much easier.
