I heard that in order to work at an Abercrombie and Fitch store, you have to be asked by one of the employees because they only want good looking people. I heard you can't go in and fill out an app. or if you can and they see you're not good looking, they don't even consider you...is this true??

That thing about the application is not true. Yesterday I filled out one, I asked to one of the brand rep. for an application and he took me to the computer where applications are to be filled, he was very friendly. I don't know anyone at that store. I can't tell you that I'm really good looking, at least not at all, I am latina, dark tanned skin and I'm 5*2. After you fill out the application you choose the best date to go for a group interview and that's it. I'll have my interview in 2 or 3 weeks. Anyone can fill out the application and go to the group interview, what happens after the interview? I don't know. I don't think that they only hire whites because I've seen black people working there and at Hollister but anyways most of the employees are white.

well ppl at abercrombie look for people who look and dress like a prep from a big city (abercrombies theme is prep meets city). if you go in lookin like a little country girl, their not going to hire you. same goes for hollister. if you dont have the beachy look (beachy is the style of hollister,) and you want to work their, their not going to hire you because you obviously wouldnt represent the store well. and not all the time do they hire good looking ppl. same goes for colored people. iv heard people say that hollister & abercrombie only hire white ppl and that isnt true. in my time working at hollister, iv seen many colored people working there as well as abercrombie.

and yes, you can ask for an app. but most of the time they will go up to you and ask you if you want to work there.

Yeah that does seem the case. But, i guess you can say that just how our society is, because would you really want someone who is typically unattractive (according to society standards of beauty) to sell you a something. Attractiveness sells. Babies show alot of this also, studies have shown that babies react more to people who have an attractive face. Alot of times we base ours feelings and actions towards one another solely on the look of the person. It's sad but, true, its subconscious thinking. Think of first impressions and going in for a job interview, if you walked in looking wayward and looking like you just woke up, do you think the interviewer would consider hiring you?! Most likely not. Also think about when we look for someone to date, we always strive to win that person that has a high level of attractiveness, that wow factor, but what we end up finding is something even better, the person who shines through the outer appearance.

Or maybe they want to appeal to good looking clubbers cuz they sure have the music loud enough for them.

It's true and yes it's discrimination. My brother tried to get a job at Abercrombie at a time they were hiring. My brother isn't that good looking so he didn't get the job. He was also qualified.

You know what I noticed about Hollister thats kind of ironic? Their theme is beachy and its based on Hollister Callifornia. But if you have ever been to Hollister, all that town is a couple shops and a lot of vineyards. Its not even close to a beach. That town is so small, if you blink you'll miss it. I drive through there on my way to Selinas. Just thought i would add that. :]]
