I admire anything and everything Ophra does but I do not share your views that she is "Saint" Oprah. Ophra does not own one multi-million dollar home she owns five. She does not own one vehicle she owns several valued at nearly one million dollars. She is quite proud of the fact that she does not borrow any jewelry to wear to spacial events she owns all the jewelry she wears. She has given around $250 million to charity in her life, but keep in mind that is the same amount she made from selling the rights to Dr. Phil's show. The income from the Ophra Show gives her nearly 1/2 a million a day. You nor I really know how much of the charity work she does is out of love or for tax deductions. She is in a fortunate position that she must choose to give it to charity or the government. You will find that it is not as easy to get money for worthwhile programs from Ophra as some may think. I have no problems with the fact that she is not married and does not want to marry and has been living with a man for over twenty years, or that she does not want children and is clear that she does not want the responsibility of having children or that she supports abortion rights but I find it amusing that the audience is filled with right wing Christians that would think it appalling for anyone else to do the same. It just goes to prove there are different standards for the rich and famous.

Ma'am, that is so heartwarming...I am also from Albay, Philippines and the news that brought us about the typhoon has struck me a lot, especially with Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon's phrase, "everything has disappeared".

I am currently working here in China and our batch in high school has organized some sort of relief operations for our kababayans, and it doesn't matter where we are now because apparently some of my batchmates there in the US and even in the UK are doing their best to help. I guess there is no need to rely or focus to one possible source but is not available. You said you are from California, there are a lot of Filipinos there who could be of great help to us...whatever happened to our 'bayanihan' trait?

Although I am not a doctor, I could still find time to devote my time to do charitable works. And right now, all I can do is try to find ways to get help from the other parts of the globe. And I even want to seek the help of Mr. Bill Gates.
GOD BLESS US ALL.

Angel Network is Oprah's charitable network, but i believe it is intended only for Africa and for Black Americans, because she is black. I don't think she will give anything to Filipinos, it is also media politics and ratings. I'm sorry but that's what I feel.
