It basically depends on what kind of program you want to make. There are tons of different tutorials that can teach you the basics of video game programming.
To make a Space Invaders video game in flash or director:
http://brennan.young.net/Edu/Lingvad.html
To create a basic 3D environment that you can move through:
http://www.3drad.com/

It really all depends on the type of game you are trying to create and what you what it to do.

ohhhhh god. another noob that wants to make video games. ok. it's not just as simple as saying i want to make a video game and doing it. first you should learn how to program, and depending on if you want to make 3d or 2d games it might pay to spend some time to learn to use some 3d modeling software(like anim8or, @ www.anim8or.com). starting all this is something that you should only do if you plan to become a programmer, or game designer. (i'm really sorry if im completely underestimating you) if you do want to learn to design games and program then one of the first steps is to learn to programm. i say you should start with C++. some people say don't start with it, start with something easier, some say go straight to that. what ever you do don't only lear one language. learn a few like perl, python, C++. it might also help to learn some basic html too. to sum this up there isn't one web site that you should go to, but many. this is a huge thing you're taking on here. i wish you luck.

Hi Rey,

This is not as simple as clicking a few buttons, some people study for half a decade to be able to write games - you will not be told how to do so from one website.

Ok. Bad question. What you should of done is specified which kind of game you want to make, how much effort you are willing to put into it, what your prior experience is etc.

I am suspecting you are wanting to make a graphical interface computer game, to which you need programming knowledge, graphical artistry knowledge/texturing etc. Its reasonably tough.

a little more information on your prior knowledge and what kind of game your trying to make would be helpful
but assuming you have little to none experience i would recomend making a flash game in which case you would need to buy adobe flash or macromedia flash
anything else would need classes and lots of time devoted to it
