You convert a fraction to a decimal by using a proportion ex. 1/2=x/100 multiply 100 by 1, and then divide by 2, this also works for percentages, or you could always divide the top number by the bottom number. You convert a decimal to a fraction by putting it over a one by however many places behind the decimal point in your decimal ex. .2345=2345/10000 and then you simplify.

To find the decimal value of a fraction is easy. Just divide the numerator (the number on the top) by the denominator (the number on the bottom). 3/4 = .75

Turning a decimal value into a fraction is trickier. For instance 17/23 = .739130435 but most people wouldn't be able to covert back to 17/23. You could express is as 7391/10000 but that isn't the exact fraction. If you know the common fractions 1/8, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and their multiples such as 3/8, 3/4, 2/3 etc., as decimals .125, .25, .333, .etc., you'll be fine in most cases.

To convert a fraction to a decimal without a calculator- take the denominator(bottom number and try to convert it to something like 10, 100, or 1000. for instance 2/5 can be turned into 4/10. You multiply the top number by whatever you had to make the bottom number 10, 100, 1000. Then since it is easily seen you take the top number and move the decimal which is behind the whole number ever how many zeros are in your multiple. Like in the example above 4/10 would become 0.4 For denominators not multiply of ten- it should be okay to round them off a little.

To convert decimals into fractions you pretty much so this same process in reverse. Like if you had 0.125. it would become 125/1000. Then you would just need to simplify it.

Converting a fraction to a decimal is the easier of the two. It's a division of the numerator by the denominator. (2/7 really means 2 divided by 7)

Converting a decimal to a fraction can be done only if the decimal repeats or terminates. 0.33333333... = 1/3 and 0.25 = 1/4

but 3.1415926... doesn't repeat and it doesn't end. So it's called irrational, which just means that it can't be made into a fraction. Knowing this is 9th grade math at the least. Good luck!

A fraction: ex - 1/4 = divide the 1 by 4 and you will get the answer of 0.25 (25%)

A decimal: ex - 0.50 = move decimal over 2 so you have a whole number and place over 100 (50/100); reduce to lowest possible and you will get 1/2.
