It made me decide to become a science-fiction writer (which is what I now do for a living): http://sfwriter.com

More, though: it taught me tolerance, that it is cool to be a pacifist, and that you should apologize when you're wrong. I mean this in all sincerity: I'm a better person because of that show, and I think that's true for a lot of us who grew up with it (I was six when it debuted).

There has been numerous articles and conversations myself included addressing the longterm "imprint" the Original Star Trek series has had on society. Expanding imaginations, erasing limitations, establishing a limited theory for space exploration. reflecting society's cultural difference etc. the list goes. check out:

I watched a lot of those episodes as a kid since my older brother was a big fan. I always thought they were poorly done, but then scifi at the time wasn't that great so for what it was, it was innovative and attempted something rather difficult.

The show itself did make me think about other cultures and tolerance, and make me somewhat a fan of scifi in general, although I credit books for most of that influence.

Im the owner of one of the largest Star Trek Collections in Ohio. It helped cement my career as a collectibles expert and has put me on par as a journeyman warehouse diver with heritage and christies...Trust me on this one, if you belive and act on it, you can do anything.

It certainly got me interested in science at a time when girls weren't all that interested in science. To this day, I like smart men even if they're somewhat eccentric or anti-social... or dress funny.

OK, I admit it, I do own a couple of Star Trek costumes and wear them to conventions, LOL!
