Well, if things go well with Kei Igawa than the pitching rotation will look like this. Wang, Mussina, Johnson, Pavano, Igawa. The field is like last year. Posada, Giambi, Cano, Jeter, ***-Rod, Matsui, Damon, Abreu, Don't know about the DH. There has also been rumors going around bout the Yankees and the D-Train. NY could offer a package w/ Melky Cabrera and Humberto Sanchez but not sure yet.

Can't think the Yankees would bank of Pavano, Johnson is injured, and questionable for spring training.
No way can the Yankees get Willis (he is not available) and if he was, no way Melkey and Sanchez would do it.
They will probably find another back end rotation/bullpen guy like Proctor to fill the void.
Wang, Mussina, Johnson, Igawa...
Giambi is the Yankees DH - they have made this clear, they are looking for a right hand 1B

The Winter meetings start next week so we'll have to see what the Yanks have in mind. I have a feeling that they're going to try to trade some of the youngsters they just got in the Sheffield trade to try and pry Dontrelle Willis from the Marlins. I can't see them getting Zito because it's too much money for an average pitcher.
As far as what Katalex is saying about the internal moves. Scott Proctor probably isn't going to start because of what she says about not having any middle relief. I see them picking up a Gil Meche or Ted Lilly to augment their starting rotation which could include Pavano. I'm not convinced that the Yankees might try to trade him next week to a NL team for a 1st baseman. Igawa , if they sign him, becomes their 4th starter depending what goes on.
It's going to be a big year for the Yankees.

The Yankees are really taking their chances banking on Pavano to be ready. 19 starts in 2 years?
Randy Johnson is 43 and counting, what does that tell you?
Cashman better get off the stick and put together a decent starting rotation, and not even contemplate moving Proctor out of the bullpen, if you do, where is the middle relief? Farnsworth, he can through maybe 2 innings then he's spent, and if your starter can't get out of the 3rd inning, we're going to be in trouble.

I suspect the yankees and white sox will make a trade. tHE SOX HAVE TOO MANY B STARTERS AND THE YANKEES NEED SOMEONE TO SUCK UP INNINGS.
I WOULD GUESS FREDDY GARCIA.
