13+. Good to get them used to the idea of how dating, and maintaining a relationship works. Being experienced with it young, would give them a head start and an advantage on maintianing a relationship/marriage. Just make sure there really isn't much sexual contact. I'm 13 years old myself, i'm not just saying this because i like to date, but, it's true.

That is so individual. Some kids who are 30+ should not be allowed to date... and to say as some have that a mature 16 year old can date. That is an oxymoron... Mature 16 year old. I mean it is like saying jumbo shrimp or military intelligence. There is no such thing. Maturity comes from experience, and you are not born with it. You can not buy experience. If you could, a doctor would go to the experience market and ask for several years of experience, no matter what the cost is. So each and every kid must be observed and the decision must be made based on the parents prior experience with that particular kid. Good Luck! Glad it is you worrying about it and not me anymore...

I'm not here to tell you that children shouldn't be dating til there 16 or 18 or anything like that.
I am only 15 of age and I have had boyfriends and I have gone on dates.
It shouldn't be a set date when your child should start dating.
It should be on if you feel he/she is responsible enough to go on a date.
It's all about how you feel.
But give the kids some of a break.
If they want to go to the movies and they can't drive...
Take them but don't go to the same movie. Go to a movie that ends around the same time for the kids don't feel so constricted.
But then again it's all how you feel and how you think your child has matured over these few years.

I started dating when I was 17. My dad said 18 but we comprimised. I allowed my boys to start dating at 16 but they also had a curfew. No dates on school nights, and if it interferred with his school work, just like their jobs, dating would end too. I may be strict but my boys ended up being very respectful and not like some kids I have seen in todays society.

I say, as long as they're the same age, you should get the kid dating ASAP. The world's a tough place, and a lot of the problems (for girls) come from guys. Boys are generally very, very stupid, but older teens can be somewhat manipulative. Better your girl realise what the majority of guys is before sex starts getting thrown into the mix.
And your child needs to understand that "Disney world" doesn't exist, and he/she is gonna meet a lotta of two-faced people throughout life. Better they learn that lesson sooner than later; better to be strong than innocent.

The best age for kids to start dating is 16 for boys & 17 for girls, not too young for them, the new generation now is too early on dating so as long as we can avoid them, better to talk to them early & ask them to tell everything in there parents & explane them & give them advice on what they are trying to do.

I might be a little over protective but I say 30. I have 3 kids and my oldest will be 8 in a month. I am not ready for them to grow up yet.

I don't know what the best age is, but, I am not letting my daughters date until they are 16 when they have some level of maturity.
