Ironically, I struggle with writer's block.
I have been told many times my grammar is on point, and enjoy writing essays.
It's not until the teacher has us write an essay on anything, that I get writer's block.
I tend to read a lot, so that is how I was able to improve my grammar, which is due to the fact I didn't speak English until I was 10. (Yes, I was born in California, but my parents knew nothing to teach me in English.)
So if you need to improve your grammar, read a few good books and you will improve dramatically.

Hmmm. What an interesting question.
I've been a grammarian (and a teacher of grammar) for most of my life. I checked out your Q because I was curious about the answers you would receive.
Interesting that most people don't have problems with grammar so much as with writer's block. Same here, mainly because I was taught grammar-grammar-grammar as a child, not writing!
But then doubledoubleplain caught my attention. "I feel sort of stupid writing this but...," and then confessed to a problem with affect and effect (not grammar actually but word choice or diction, but that's a teacher's quibble).
Well, don't feel stupid, ddp. We all have these shibboleths. Mine is further and farther. I grew up with a regional dialect which had us say "fuhther" for both of them. So even though I've been an English teacher and a speaker of standard English for years and years and years, that original dialect is still primary. So I catch myself and remember not to say "fuhther," but then I can't remember whether to say farther or further right away--so there's this gap in my talk. Or, more often, I say the wrong one!
Well, I could go fuhther . . . er, further . . . er, farther . . . er, on. But enough is enough!
Cheers!
(And, as an English teacher I can tell you that one of the biggest problems most people have with grammar, is the meaning of the word itself . . . but that's another issue, isn't it?)

Sometimes I can write like someone took over my pen and I am channeling some really good writer. Other times I struggle to get out a mundane paragraph.
Writer's Block is the bane of my existence.

Oddly enough, short sentences. I cannot write anything that resembles a magazine paragraph. I get bored when I read them and when I write them, people tend to become confused. Mainly due to the fact that I tend to assume that people understand what I'm saying and thus leave out important things- like verbs, sentences, phrases. Which is why I'm on answers. How else can I learn how to shorten my trains of though so I don't leave out the important information?

I don't struggle with grammar. I know my grammar rules really well.
I do have trouble expanding on points in my essays though. It drives me crazy. I'm improving though.

The difference between affect and effect. I've never been able to understand which is appropriate to use when.
